The IPPS held a series of four regional ‘listening exercises’ in 2023 to better understand different regional contexts and approaches to delivering the 100 Days Mission. 26 experts came together from South and South East Asia for this exercise. Members of the group shared examples of good practice including collaboration with industry on diagnostics and intra-regional cooperation leading to rapid approval of a medicine. Participants reported that pan-regional collaboration is crucial to strengthening many stages of the pandemic product development race, this could be through sharing of science and data, joined up decision making or regulatory harmonisation. Discussions were also had about how priorities for funding are set in the region and decisions should be made by the region rather than being controlled by the ‘Global North’.
