We welcome and celebrate the historic conclusion of negotiations on the draft WHO Pandemic Agreement.
The agreement demonstrates a shared determination to prevent a repeat of the devastation caused by COVID-19 and to strengthen the worldโs collective ability to prepare for, and respond to, future pandemics. It underlines the fact that no country can face pandemics alone, and reaffirms the vital importance of international cooperation, shared responsibility, and multilateralism in preparing for and responding to global health threats. Amidst a changing global health ecosystem, this moment demonstrates what is possible when the world comes together towards a common cause.
โWe commend the World Health Organization, the International Negotiating Body (INB) and the wider international community for reaching consensus on this historic agreement. We strongly support the commitments to strengthen R&D for medical countermeasures, and geographically distributed manufacturing underpinned by equity, transparency, and international collaboration which align with the aims of the 100 Days Mission. If adopted, IPPS stands ready to support countries and our 100 Days Mission partners, and multi-sectoral stakeholders, to support the implementation of the agreementโ said IPPS Co-Chairs Dr Mona Nemer, Dr Victor Dzau and Shingai Machingaidze.
